Philip Coelho
Professor Emeritus
Philip Coelho, Professor of Economics, earned his doctorate from the University of Washington in 1969. Before joining Ball State in 1987, he was Professor of Economics at George Mason University (1981-1987). His fields of interest include microeconomics and finance. Coelho's current research includes the economic impact of diseases, population and history, and an economic explanation of slavery in the new world.
Coelho received National Science Foundation Grants for the projects in 2000-2001 and in 2007-2010. In 2007, he received Miller College of Business Faculty Research Award.
