Undergraduate Scholarships

College-wide Scholarships

This award is available to incoming freshmen or transfer students pursuing a major within the Estopinal College of Architecture and Planning. Recipients should have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale and a minimum SAT score of 1090 on a scale of 1600 or the equivalent on a similar exam, such as the ACT. Students are eligible for the renewable scholarship for all four years if the student continues to meet the stated criteria. Learn more.

The LicketySplit Scholarship is awarded to a CAP student who has consistently displayed concern for fellow students and the community, a strong work ethic, and a personal philosophy of striving for excellence. We give preference to students with financial need. No application required. Faculty nominate students.

Departmental Scholarships

The Brad Ehrlichman Memorial Scholarship is awarded to students—undergraduate or graduate—majoring in architecture and accepted to participate in the foreign study World Tour program. We give preference to students who demonstrate financial need. No application required. Faculty nominate students.

The BDMD Scholarship is for students pursuing an architecture degree within the Department of Architecture who are entering their 3rd through 5th year (undergraduate) and 2nd through 3rd year (graduate).  Students interested in this $500 - $1000 scholarship need to complete the attached application and email it to archdept@bsu.edu by May 15th.  Preference is given to students in high academic standing.

The Glen Sabados Memorial Scholarship is awarded to an architecture student at the end of their second year in the undergraduate program. This award honors students who have consistently displayed sincere concern for their fellow students and the community, demonstrates a strong work ethic, and manifests a philosophy of striving for excellence. Students in the second-year undergraduate architecture program nominate their classmates for this award – the nomination form is attached (please submit to the department by the due date indicated). In identifying the Sabados Scholarship recipient through a review by a faculty committee, preference is given to students who may have a financial need and who are an out-of-state student. The Schmidt Associates Scholarship is awarded to full-time undergraduate students working on a Bachelor of Architecture within the Department of Architecture. The scholarship is awarded in the spring semester of a student's third (3rd) year of study to be applied during the fourth (4th) year of study; 1) Preference is given to under-represented groups; 2) Minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; 3) Must demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and development through leadership and participation in student and/or professional organizations and activities; 4) Must show evidence of community involvement and service; and 5) Some consideration will be given to students with financial need, although it is not a major determining factor.

The scholarship is open to incoming freshmen or transfer students in the Department of Architecture, based on merit. The scholarship is renewable for three years provided the student continues to meet specified criteria.

The Kevin Theobald Memorial Scholarship is awarded to an architecture student at the end of their third year in the undergraduate program. This award honors students who have a drive for excellence and a commitment to their field of study. Students in the third year undergraduate architecture program nominate their fellow classmates for this award – the nomination form is attached (please send to the architecture program by the due date indicated). In identifying the Theobald Scholarship recipients through a review by a faculty committee preference will be given to students who have demonstrated financial need. The national professional fraternity Alphi Rho Chi awards a graduating senior who demonstrates leadership and service, as well as the promise of professional merit through his or her attitude and personality. Faculty nominate students—you do not need to apply. Learn more.

ARCC King Student Medal (Architecture)

The Architectural Research Centers Consortium awards the King Student Medal to an undergraduate or graduate student who acknowledges innovation, integrity, and scholarship in architectural and/or environmental design research. Faculty nominate students—you do not need to apply. Learn more.

Henry Adams Medal (AIA)

The American Institute of Architects awards the Henry Adams Medal to a graduating undergraduate and a graduating graduate student with the highest cumulative GPA in the architecture programs. Faculty nominate students—you do not need to apply. Learn more.

Outstanding Historic Preservation Master’s Thesis and/or Creative Project

We give the Outstanding Historic Preservation Master’s Thesis and/or Creative Project award to a graduating historic preservation graduate student after completing ARCH 605. Faculty nominate students—you do not need to apply.

Preservation Merit Award

We give the Preservation Merit Award to a master of science in historic preservation student based on standing. Faculty nominate students—you do not need to apply.

Sigma Pi Kappa National Honor Society

Sigma Pi Kappa National Honor Society recognizes master of science in historic preservation students with standings of a 3.7 or higher GPA. Faculty nominate students—you do not need to apply.
