Jacquelyn Buckrop has been named assistant to Ball State University Provost Terry King.

Buckrop's appointment took effect July 1. She previously was the associate dean of the College of Communication, Information, and Media, a position she held since 1998. Buckrop also was an assistant professor of communication studies.

"I anticipate learning a great many things about the university and administration," Buckrop said of her new role as the provost's assistant. "I'm enjoying working with Provost King, and I look forward to continuing to be able to serve the university in an administrative function."

Buckrop will have varied duties that include serving on search and university governance committees, supporting the provost with administrative and organizational activities, drafting speeches and reports, and arranging events sponsored by the provost's office.

She replaces Jean Amman, who retired in June after 22 years of service in the position.
