How would you like to have a Hollywood debut without having to leave the Hoosier State?
Ball State University's College of Fine Arts and its Institute for Digital Entertainment and Education (IDEE) are teaming up with Clothespin Productions to create a professionally produced commercial film. "My Name is Jerry" will star Doug Jones and will feature other professional talent and technicians from the Los Angeles area.
Jones, who graduated from Ball State in 1982, has starred in "Pan's Labyrinth," "The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" and appears in the upcoming July release "Hellboy II: The Golden Army."
"Ball State has long been building a reputation as having 'the best film school without a film school,'" said Rodger Smith, IDEE director and associate professor of theater. "This is Ball State's first commercial film venture, and we plan to further the university's reputation in this realm by making 'My Name is Jerry' a successful venture."
The film needs actors and production crew, and the deadline is quickly approaching, Smith added. Filming will be in Muncie and Indianapolis July 14 through Aug. 11. Headshots and resumes are being sought from actors ages 18 and up and need to be submitted by April 1. Audition dates for the Indianapolis area will be April 3 and 4, and finalists will be notified of the location.
