Learning Center Resources for Faculty

The Learning Center offers many services that faculty can direct their student towards for academic support. You can also request some services to assist in your classes.

Supplemental Instruction

SI is an academic support program designed for large lecture classes and/or historically-difficult courses. An SI leader—a student who has already taken the class and has been trained in academic assistance—will attend your class with you, take notes, and read the material again.

The Learning Center offers tutoring in a variety of courses and skills and is a valuable resources if any of your students need academic assistance. Students can make appointments for virtual (Zoom) or in-person (NQ 350) appointments via Navigate.

Drop-in tutoring takes place at satellite centers around campus—no appointment is necessary. Drop-in is great for quick questions or assistance with specific assignments.

Testing accommodations for students with disabilities are available for students who have received the appropriate documentation from Disability Services. Tests may be administered in the Learning Center.

Import the Learning Center Canvas Commons module into your course today so your students can:

  • Access the tutoring flyer.
  • See written and video instructions explaining how to make and cancel an appointment with a tutor using Navigate.
  • Click on a link to make an appointment with a tutor.
  • Access our list of tutor-created micro-tutorial videos covering over 600 concepts in different courses at Ball State.
  • Learn about testing accommodations for students with disabilities.
To import, in Canvas, click on "Commons" on the left menu bar. Search for "Ball State University Learning Center." Click on the module. Click "Import/Download" and select which course you would like to import it into. Click "Import Into Course."
