David Frye
Director of Academic Platforms
David Frye serves as Director of Academic Platforms in University College at Ball State University, where he leads the strategic implementation and coordination of technology systems that support academic advising, student success initiatives, and institutional decision-making. In this role, he collaborates with campus partners to integrate student success platforms, develop reporting tools, and ensure that advisors, faculty, and university leaders have access to data that informs efforts to improve student persistence and degree completion.
David has been part of the Ball State community for more than two decades, first arriving as an undergraduate student in 2000. Over the course of nearly 20 years as a professional staff member at the University, he has held a variety of roles focused on academic advising, student support, and operational leadership. Prior to his current position, David served as Director of Upper Division Academic Advising, where he led advising operations for upper-division students and helped lead the development and implementation of a professional advising model for upper-division students – an initiative that expanded advising support beyond the first year and strengthened a coordinated advising network across the academic colleges.
Throughout his career, David has contributed to the implementation and advancement of student success technologies and processes designed to improve the student experience. His work includes the implementation and operationalization of advising and student success platforms, along with the development of reporting tools and data processes that support early alerts, progress reporting, and institutional retention initiatives. He is passionate about leveraging data, technology, and collaborative partnerships to improve the student experience and support student success at scale.
David earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Public Administration from Ball State University.
