Quick Facts

A master’s degree in emerging media design and development (EMDD) will catapult you into a world of cross-platform, interdisciplinary work. You’ll learn how to plan, develop, deploy and test communication designs and storytelling across digital platforms. You’ll graduate as a highly-trained professional in the high-demand fields of strategic communication, user-centered design, user experience research, transmedia storytelling, design thinking, public relations, advertising, healthcare, corporate business, education and more.

You’ll engage audiences in two-way storytelling and create multimedia stories built for strategic communication, work with real-world clients to develop compelling content and deploy emerging technology to support storytelling and design. The program offers on-campus, low-residency, and accelerated master's program delivery options. Low-residency students attend a once-per-semester workshop at the Center for Academic Innovation at Launch Fishers (in Fishers, Indiana), and the remainder of the coursework is completed online. Our award-winning faculty are agile and adaptive, embracing a fast-changing media landscape that pushes innovation and entrepreneurial learning.

We teach empathy and self-awareness, not only for recognizing personal biases but also for helping students to stay grounded in professional ethics throughout their careers. We are intentional in purpose and embed experiences across our curriculum that are transformational. This degree also is an excellent step toward doctoral studies.

The EMDD program helped me discover my passion and find a full-time position that aligns with that passion. I'm endlessly grateful for my EMDD experience, cohort, and professors!
