Ball State University’s Department of Elementary Education offers a two-course, online Graduate Certificate in Science of Reading to meet the Indiana Department of Education’s (IDOE) Science of Reading legislation. For licensed elementary education, special education, and early childhood education teachers, the 6-credit certificate fulfills the professional development training in Early Literacy Endorsement required to renew your teaching license.

Why Should I Complete My Science of Reading Professional Development With Ball State?
International Dyslexia Association Accreditation logo.

Indiana’s House Enrolled Act (HEA) 1558 mandates the Science of Reading as the standard curriculum across state schools, requiring early childhood, elementary, and special education teachers to complete 80 hours of professional development and pass an endorsement exam to renew their licenses.

Earning your certificate not only enhances your literacy instructional knowledge and skills but also gives you a head start on a Master’s in Elementary Education with a Concentration in Reading/Literacy.

Additionally, this certificate is accredited by the International Dyslexia Association.
