The online Post-Master's Nurse Education Graduate Certificate at Ball State University is designed for nurses with a master’s degree in nursing who want to pursue faculty roles in higher education or serve as an educator in the healthcare system. The online, asynchronous format of coursework allows you to continue your education and reach new career goals while still working as a full-time nurse.

Depending on your educational background, there are two tracks you can choose from: Advanced Practice Track (13-16 credits) and Traditional Track (22-25 credits).

Curriculum

Advanced Practice Track (13-16 credits)

The Advanced Practice Track is for Nurses who have a master’s degree in nursing as an advanced practice nurse with a concentration as a nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, nurse anesthetist, or nurse midwife. You will take the following courses:

  • NUR 605 Nursing Information Technology (3 credits)*
  • NUR 620 Curricular Designs in Nursing (3 credits)
  • NUR 622 Teaching in Nursing (3 credits)
  • NUR 626 Program Evaluation (3 credits)
  • NUR 672 Practicum of Role Expectations (4 credits)

*NUR 605 is only required if you do not have a nursing master’s degree from Ball State University.

Traditional Track (22-25 credits)

The Traditional track is for nurses who have a master's degree in nursing as a nurse administrator or nurse executive often require nursing education knowledge for their role. This nursing education certificate will provide credentials in nursing education for nurses with a master's degree in nursing. You will take the following courses:

  • NUR 605 Nursing Information Technology (3 credits)*
  • NUR 620 Curricular Designs in Nursing (3 credits)
  • NUR 622 Teaching in Nursing (3 credits)
  • NUR 626 Program Evaluation (3 credits)
  • NUR 632 Advanced Pathophysiology (3 credits)
  • NUR 634 Advanced Health Assessment (3 credits)
  • NUR 638 Advanced Clinical Pharmacology (3 credits)
  • NUR 672 Practicum of Role Expectations (4 credits)

*NUR 605 is only required if you do not have a nursing master’s degree from Ball State University.
