John Kolar
Assistant Teaching Professor of Music Media Production
Mr. John Kolar is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Music Media Production at Ball State. He holds an M.S. degree in Music & Technology from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from West Virginia University.
John has diverse experience in various aspects of the audio engineering industry. He has worked at Arup and Polysonics as an architectural acoustics consultant, at Bose Corporation as an acoustic engineer and a software engineer, at West Virginia University as an audiovisual technician, and at Parthian Battery Solutions as the lead software developer for a National Science Foundation grant.
John continues to work as a producer and recording/mixing/mastering engineer for music and podcasts. He creates and develops audio hardware and software plug-ins.
John also writes music and performs as a solo musician and as a member of music groups of various genres. His music can be heard on all music streaming platforms with the following artists: Kiolo, Mother of Earl, Stray Tuesday, and John Kolar.
