David Ferguson
Dean of the College of Architecture and Planning and Professor of Landscape Architecture
Dave Ferguson became dean of the R. Wayne Estopinal College of Architecture and Planning (CAP) on July 1, 2019. An alumnus of the College, Ferguson joined the faculty of the Department of Landscape Architecture in 1988 with a teaching focus on landscape architecture, urban design, and sustainable design. Prior to teaching, he was in private practice for eight years after graduating from Ball State and later completed graduate work at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
Ferguson’s administrative experience at Ball State includes serving as a department chair and associate dean within CAP. In addition, he has served in campus-wide administrative roles as associate vice president for Emerging Media and as executive director of the Center for Media Design. He worked with dean emeritus Philip Repp to foster connections with CAP alumni in Indiana and across the nation. He has helped launch several new CAP initiatives and he understands the challenges facing the fast-changing design and construction environments. Ferguson has been heavily involved with community outreach and is a founding board member of the Cardinal Greenway.
