The first Benjamin V. Cohen Peace Conference was titled "Promoting Nonviolence at Home and Beyond". It was jointly organized by the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies and the City of Muncie with the financial support, in part, from the Benjamin V. Cohen Memorial Endowment Fund, and the United States Institute of Peace. Over 200 community activists and scholars from all disciplines attended on April 5 and 6, 2013 to present and/or learn about strategies, research, and recommendations related to peacemaking and peace-building, particularly with respect to local, national, and international contexts.
