Potential Student Project(s):
The student will research a career that he/she/ze is interested in after graduation by reviewing the literature and the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and then conduct an interview with someone in that occupational area and prepare a manuscript for publication with the help of the faculty mentor.
Attributes/skills/background sought in undergraduate:
The student should possess the ability to use Microsoft Word and an Internet browser and possess strong English proficiency to write with correct spelling and grammar.
Mentoring Plan:
The student researcher will work 5 hours per week on the project including at least 1 hour per week for faculty mentor consulting. The student researcher will work independently to collect factual information relating to a career interest, which will be shared with the faculty mentor. The faculty mentor will provide guidance regarding how to summarize the information in APA format with references. The faculty mentor will provide guidance for setting up an interview with someone in the career selected and recording the findings. The faculty mentor will also assist with formatting the information for publication in a refereed journal.
