The Ball State University Testing Center offers a variety of computer-based exams and support services to help students and community members achieve their academic and professional goals. From graduate admissions tests like the GRE and TOEFL to Praxis and GMAT exams, as well as proctoring services for distance learners, our center provides secure, accessible testing in a quiet, student-focused environment.

Computer-based testing is available at Ball State which includes the following exams (among many others):

  • Praxis
  • GRE (Graduate Record Examination) General Test
  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
  • GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test)

Although the General Educational Development (GED) Test is no longer offered at Ball State University, GED transcripts for those individuals who tested with us over the years are still available through Diploma Sender. Should you have additional questions, please contact the GED Testing Service in Indianapolis at 317-232-0522.

The Testing Center provides test proctoring services to individuals who are required to take examinations for colleges/universities and other agencies as part of a distance education program. A proctoring fee of $45.00 per scheduled test session will be charged to individuals utilizing this service. A typical test session is considered to range from 0 to 3 hours.  If additional time is needed, a charge of $10.00 for each additional hour would be assessed.

WHEN: CLEP exams are administered approximately once each semester in the Testing Center.

COST:

  • The total cost for a CLEP exam is $140.00. This total is comprised of an $95.00 fee payable to CLEP and a $45.00 fee payable to Ball State University.

PREPARATION: Refer to an appropriate textbook that would be required in the course for which you are attempting to obtain credit via examination. Or, check out the official CLEP website.

ADMINISTRATION TYPE: Computer Based

SPECIFIC INFO FOR BALL STATE STUDENTS: Ball State University grants appropriate credit to currently enrolled Ball State students who earn satisfactory scores on the subject examinations of the College level Examination Program (CLEP) exams. You will not be awarded credit for examinations if you have been or are presently enrolled for credit or audit in an accredited university course that covers the subject for which CLEP credit is offered, nor may you repeat an examination within three months.

Currently enrolled Ball State students who wish to take a CLEP examination must contact Jennifer Lawson, Coordinator of Non-Traditional Credit, Office of Academic Advising, North Quad 364, Phone: 765-285-5488 for consideration and procedure information before making arrangements to take the test. Currently enrolled Ball State students who have taken a CLEP examination prior to enrolling at Ball State may have their records evaluated for CLEP credit by Jennifer Lawson with final approval from the appropriate department chairperson.
