FOr Faculty and Staff

Information Technology is proud to offer three different Adobe software options for Ball State faculty or staff:

 

Adobe Acrobat Pro is a comprehensive software that allows users to digitally manipulate PDF files. Key features of Adobe Acrobat include:

  • PDF Creation and Editing: Create, edit, and organize PDF documents.
  • Form Creation and Management: Design, create, fill, and manage interactive web forms.
  •  e-Signature and Document Workflow: Request e-signatures, track statuses, and manage document workflows.
  • Document Protection: Protect documents with passwords and permissions.
  • Redaction: Permanently remove sensitive information from PDFs.
  • Conversion: Convert PDFs to and from various formats (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

ADOBE ACROBAT PRO WITH AI ASSISTANT

Adobe Acrobat Pro also includes a conversational AI Assistant that can significantly improve comprehension, get insights, and produce high-quality content quickly. The new AI Assistant feature includes:

  • Conversational AI: "Chat" with documents to find answers, summarize content, or brainstorm ideas.
  • Generative Summaries: Automatically generate summaries of documents, highlighting key points and themes.
  • Citations: Get citations to the source material to verify the accuracy of the information.
  • Productivity Enhancements: Quickly understand complex documents, extract key insights, and create reports, presentations, and emails based on document content.

Adobe Express is a cloud-based, all-in-one design, photo, and video editing tool that allows users to create a variety of digital content, including social media graphics, videos, presentations, and more. Key features of Adobe Express include:

  • Templates: Access to a wide variety of templates for different content types.
  • Adobe Stock: Access to a library of royalty-free photos, videos, and other assets.
  • Adobe Fonts: Access to a collection of fonts.
  • Quick Actions: Features like removing backgrounds, converting videos to GIFs, and more.
  • Design Elements: Backgrounds, overlays, graphics, and effects.
  • Brand Kits: Create and share brand styles across teams.
  • Real-time collaboration: Work together in real time and create faster.
  • Generative AI features: Time-saving features like content variations and resizing.

The Adobe Creative Cloud Suite has applications and services that provides access to a wide range of software for graphic design, video editing, web development, photography, and more, along with mobile apps and cloud services.

The Creative Cloud Suite includes Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects, InDesign, and Acrobat Pro, along with templates, cloud storage, and fonts from the Adobe Fonts library. Key features of the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite include:

  • Apps: Access to a wide range of desktop and mobile applications.
  • Web Services: Access to web-based services and resources.
  • Cloud Storage: Includes cloud storage for storing and sharing files.
  • Fonts: Access to the Adobe Fonts library.
  • Training: Access to tutorials and training resources.

The Adobe Creative Cloud Suite is a valuable tool for creating professional-grade work through industry-leading software. Access to the Creative Cloud Suite requires a paid $100 license subject to supervisor approval for faculty and staff.

Getting Started with Adobe for Faculty

A variety of resources are available to help you make the most of your access to Adobe applications. You can also get built-in templates to jump-start your designs and step-by-step tutorials to sharpen your skills and get up to speed quickly.

The Adobe Getting Started Series for Faculty

If you choose to pay for the Creative Cloud suite, this series of three-hour self-paced courses covers a variety of creative tasks and related Adobe products. These are aimed at educators and are focused on how instructors can use the tools to engage with students; some courses include teaching material.

  • Get Started with Adobe. Explore the value of digital literacy, and learn to use Adobe Creative Cloud tools to engage your students and boost their creative thinking skills.
  • Get Started with Adobe Express. Learn how to use Adobe Express from start to finish to foster creativity in the classroom.
  • Get Started with Imaging. Learn how to create and edit amazing images with Adobe Photoshop, and use your new skills to enhance visual learning in your classroom.
  • Get Started with Graphics. Learn the basics of creating graphics with Adobe Illustrator to help your students design infographics, charts, logos, and other projects that help them communicate with impact.
