David Letterman stood alongside his mother, then President Jo Ann Gora, and other university officials in September 2007 and snipped a ribbon to the building Ball State named after him.

A light rain didn’t deter an estimated 5,000 people from showing up that day to see the university honor its most prominent alumnus.

The $21 million David Letterman Communication and Media Building houses the College of Communication Information and Media’s offices, as well as offices and classrooms for the telecommunications and communication studies departments. WCRD and Indiana Public Radio are also based in the building.
