An Indiana resident with Ball State University ties has bequeathed approximately $28,000 to provide funding for the general needs of the Virginia B. Ball Center for Creative Inquiry.

The late Margaret Trimmer was the mother of Joe Trimmer, director of the Virginia Ball Center.

Each academic year, Virginia Ball Center faculty fellows and their students participate in interdisciplinary seminars. They work together to explore the connection among the arts, humanities, sciences and technology and create products that are presented to the community.

Margaret Trimmer's gift will help facilitate these immersive-learning seminars.
Trimmer placed a high value on education during her life, graduating cum laude from Wilson College, Chambersburg, Pa., in 1935. She later received a master's degree in education from Purdue University.

Trimmer and her late husband, Francis W. Trimmer, had a 14-year pastorate at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Schenectady, N.Y., before moving to West Lafayette in 1959. They served in various churches including the International Church of Bangkok, Thailand, for three years.
