Nationally recognized entrepreneur Bob Compton will visit Ball State as "entrepreneur-in-residence" for a screening of his documentary film, "Two Million Minutes."
The documentary compares and contrasts the high school education experiences of students in India, China and the United States. It suggests that how society's teenagers use their roughly 2 million minutes in high school can affect their country's economic prospects in the globally competitive 21st century.
The screening of Compton's film will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, in the Art and Journalism Building, Room 175. The event is sponsored by Ball State's Entrepreneurship Center and is free and open to the public. After the screening, Compton will take questions from the audience.
"We are especially excited to have Bob Compton visit our campus. He is a serial entrepreneur, venture capitalist and documentary filmmaker, " said Larry Cox, director of the Entrepreneurship Center. "Bob's wisdom is world class, and we are privileged to have him as our entrepreneur-in-residence."
Over the course of his 30-year career, Compton has worked as an engineer for IBM Systems and as president/chief operating officer of Sofamor Danek, the largest spinal medical device company in the world. He holds a master of business administration from Harvard Business School and an honorary doctorate from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
