U.S. News & World Report is listing Ball State University's graduate programs in education among the best in the nation.

The magazine's annual rankings of graduate programs granting doctoral degrees has Ball State's programs offered through Teachers College listed at 90th among 242 universities and colleges submitting information.

The publication listed Ball State with 281 students enrolled full time in its graduate education program in 2007 along with 76 full-time faculty.

Robert Morris, associate provost for research and dean of the graduate school, said the improvement in the rankings is a testament to the hard work of the Teachers College faculty and staff.

"I am extremely proud of the faculty and staff teaching and advising the graduate programs in the Teacher's College at Ball State," he said. "This ranking is a reflection of the long history of outstanding work and significant accomplishments across a wide range of disciplines, and we look forward to the future."

The magazine ranked Ball State based on a weighted average of measurements, including peer assessment score, superintendent assessment score, mean Graduate Record Exam (GRE) verbal scores, mean GRE quantitative scores, acceptance rate, student-faculty ratio, percent of faculty with awards, doctoral degrees granted, total research expenditures, average expenditures per faculty member, overall rank and specialty rank.
