The Ball State University chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) is accepting membership applications for spring 2008. ODK allows students, staff and faculty to come together and serve their campus and the local community.

The application comprises five categories: creative and performing arts; journalism, speech and mass media; scholarship; athletics; and campus or community service, including campus government and social or religious activities. Candidates need not participate in all categories, but must remain active in campus leadership and community service. Admission is highly selective, and applications have been e-mailed to the top 35 percent of juniors and seniors, as well as all faculty and staff.

Return completed applications to Kathy Smith, associate director of student life, in the Pittenger Student Center, room 118, by March 7. Students will receive notification of acceptance in the middle of March, and the initiation ceremony will take place on April 27. Lifetime membership costs $75, and members will receive engraved certificates, lapel pins and subscriptions to ODK's national magazine.

ODK is a national leadership honor society with chapters at about 300 colleges and universities. Ball State's chapter was chartered in April 2002.
