Financial management executive Jeffrey Lang will join the Ball State University Foundation as vice president of operations and treasurer on Dec. 1.

As chief financial officer of the foundation, Lang will oversee all of the financial aspects and serve as the elected treasurer of the foundation board of directors, a nonvoting officer position. The foundation receives, invests and administers gifts from private sources made for the support of Ball State.

Lang assumes the position after recently retiring from the Muncie-based Maxon Corp. Beginning in 1995, he served in various financial and management positions at Maxon, ending his career as the executive vice president, chief financial officer, treasurer and corporate secretary.

"Staff development is a key objective in achieving our strategic plan goal of becoming an even larger and more consistent funding source for Ball State," said foundation board Chairman Tony Schneider.

He noted that hiring Lang, an accomplished finance practitioner, is a strong complement to the recent appointment of a chief investment officer.

"The foundation has been blessed with a dedicated and proficient staff for many years, along with a board committed to building the professional depth that Ball State's emergence deserves and needs," Schneider said. "This hiring is a win for the foundation as well as our donors and students."

Lang has more than 30 years of experience in the fields of financial management, planning and reporting, as well as significant experience in management information systems, compensation, and employee benefit areas.

"I am excited to be joining the Ball State University Foundation team," Lang said. "The foundation has been nationally recognized for its operational excellence.  I look forward to contributing to its success in the future."

Lang is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire where he received a bachelor's degree in accounting, graduating cum laude. He is a certified public accountant and currently serves as the chairman of the board of trustees at Ivy Tech Community College, Region 6, with former directorships on the boards of the United Way of Delaware County, Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce and Delaware Advancement Corp.
