Philanthropy fueled Ball State’s promising beginnings, and decades of benefactors have built this institution and kept the university strong. Here are a few of their inspiring stories.

Kevin Lansberry first discovered Ball State during a high school soccer tournament—and from the moment he set foot on campus, he knew it was where he belonged. “There are places in life where you just get a really good feeling,” Kevin said. “Ball State was one of those places where I immediately felt at home.”

When Kirsten Davenport-Norwood visited Ball State in 2012, her father knew it was where she belonged—so much so that he handed an admissions counselor a sticky note with her name, saying, “My daughter must go to this school.” Just weeks before she was set to move in, her father tragically passed away, turning his dream for her into her life’s mission.
