The purpose of the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) is to advance a caring and supportive response to students who display behaviors that are worrisome or concerning. To accomplish this goal, we will:  

  • Educate the campus community about behaviors of concern and reporting procedures
  • Provide support to faculty, staff, and students who are assisting students who behave in concerning or disruptive ways
  • Serve as the central point of contact for reviewing reports of aberrant student behavior
  • Identify patterns of behaviors that might suggest the need for an intervention
  • Assess potential threats and risk
  • Establish linkages with campus and community resources to maximize the effectiveness of interventions
  • Support individuals with campus and community resources
  • Monitor ongoing behavior of individuals who have displayed disruptive or concerning behavior
  • Assess long-term success of individual interventions recommended by the BIT
