What Is a Fraternity or Sorority?

Fraternity and Sorority Life has been a part of Ball State for nearly the University’s entire existence. Fraternities and sororities are a home away from home. As a member, you’ll develop bonds with your brothers or sisters that transcend your time in college and will always be with you, wherever life may take you.

Ball State Chapters

Our University is home to more than 30 fraternities and sororities, all of which are governed by one of three councils that work closely with the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life.

Become a Member

Each fraternity and sorority has its own recruitment or intake process (commonly called “Rush”), but there are some common themes and traditions among all of them.

More Ways to Get Involved

Fraternity and Sorority Life members’ involvement goes well beyond their own fraternities and sororities. Our members frequently participate in leadership and philanthropic activities through our office and many other programs around campus. Also, much of what we do is thanks to the support of our alumni and faculty or staff advisors, who have many opportunities available to them to get involved.

Fraternity members get involved

Join a governance council, participate in the Greek Academy, attend a leadership program, or apply for an honors society.
