About
This year’s Oboe Marathon, hosted by Dr. Lisa Kozenko and the Ball State Oboe Studio, promises an interactive and engaging day for oboists of all ages and levels. Come spend the day exploring the oboe together—meet other oboists, make new oboe friends, share ideas, ask questions, and discover new ways to approach playing, practicing, and performing. REGISTER NOW!
We are delighted to welcome Dr. Stephen Caplan as our 2026 guest artist. Throughout the day, we’ll explore ideas from his book Oboemotions about body awareness, movement, and healthy, efficient oboe playing—not just by talking about them, but by putting them into practice.
Highlights include two interactive master classes with Dr. Caplan, a performance by Dr. Caplan of Phillip Bimstein’s Half Moon at Checkerboard Mesa, Inside the Oboe: The Science Behind the Sound with Jim Phelan (presented by Laubin), Keeping the Oboe & EH Going: A Summer Game Plan with Dr. Kozenko, oboe repair with Rachel Gripp, and an interactive reed-making and reed-critique session with the Ball State Oboe Studio.
Whether you’re a student, teacher, professional, or simply someone who loves the oboe, come ready to participate, experiment, learn from one another, and have some fun with a room full of fellow oboists.
