Chris Bolender
Production Stage Manager
Chris has worked as a professional Stage Manager for over 30 years. As a member of Actors’ Equity Association, Chris has worked mostly in the regional theatre circuit across the country. He considers the Oregon Shakespeare Festival his artistic home, where he served on the resident Stage Management staff for eighteen seasons. He had the pleasure of working on 39+ shows over his time with the company. Some of his favorites include: ALL THE WAY, THE GREAT SOCIETY, SWEAT, MOJADA: A Medea in Los Angeles, LORCA IN A GREEN DRESS, SHE LOVES ME, INDECENT, and many Shakespeare plays. Chris also has extensive experience in other live performance genres, including dance, opera, touring, events, and circus, where he was one of the originating stage managers for Cirque du Soleil’s “O” at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
The ‘great pause’ in the theatre industry, caused by the COVID pandemic, gave Chris the opportunity to pivot to academia. He joined Ball State in 2020, as the Production Manager for the Department of Theatre and Dance, and the mentor and instructor of the Stage Management program.
