- Media offers a minor in Film and Screenwriting for those who want to practice their media analysis skills while pursuing another major.
The relationship between media and society has always been complex, and the digital revolution has made that relationship even more compelling. In our Film and Media Studies concentration, you’ll examine film, television, and other forms of media as it relates to aesthetics, story, and cultural impact.
This concentration is ideal for students who enjoy screening and analyzing media but don’t want to be part of the production process. You’ll take courses in film genres, television studies, world film history, controversy in media studies, emerging media and culture, history of documentary film, and special topics in film and media studies, as well as choosing from a series of directed electives in History, English, and Communication Studies.
Upon successful completion of the program, you’ll be prepared to enter careers where strong skills in writing, research, critical thinking, and analysis are valued. Additionally, the Film and Media Studies concentration is an excellent precursor to graduate studies.
