The East Central Indiana Area Health Education Center (ECI-AHEC) is part of a state and nationwide network of programs working to enhance access to quality health care, particularly primary and preventive care, by improving the supply and distribution of health care professionals. This is accomplished through partnerships with community and academic institutions.

Working in partnership with community organizations, academic institutions, health providers, and government agencies, ECI-AHEC promotes health career opportunities to students from underprivileged and underrepresented backgrounds. ECI-AHEC programs not only encourage students and health professionals to work in health professions shortage areas (HPSAs), but they also enhance the knowledge and skills of a diverse workforce of health professionals currently working throughout East Central Indiana.

The East Central Indiana Area Health Education Center is operated by the Ball State University College of Health and serves a 10-county region including Adams, Blackford, Delaware, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Madison, Randolph, Wabash, and Wells Counties.
