Project Summary
This project: 1) built on the results of two previously awarded National Park Service American Battlefield Protection Program (ABPP) grants (2010, 2012) for research of two Northwest Indian War battles at Fort Recovery, Ohio; and 2) funded research for two 2013 ABPP grant proposals. We were awarded both 2013 ABPP grants - additional archaeology research and constructing a preservation plan for Fort Recovery. This ASPiRE research was presented at the 2012 Midwest Archaeological Conference in October 2012 and has been submitted for presentation at the Society for Historical Archaeology Conference (SHA) in January 2013 in Quebec City.
The project objective was to use the results from our two previously awarded National Park Service American Battlefield Protection Program (ABPP) grants, conduct new research (specifically on the Native American battle strategies used during the Battle of the Wabash 1791) at various regional research facilities assisted by a Graduate Assistant and paid student employee, and submit additional ABPP grants in January 2013 that used these new research results.
