The Office of Inclusive Excellence (OIE) at Ball State University is dedicated to the recruitment, retention, and celebration of diverse faculty, staff, and students who possess a variety of worldviews, identities, and experiences.
Our goals are to ensure that diversity is an integral part of the Ball State University identity, to be a recognized training and development resource for the campus community, and to foster an environment where individuals of diverse backgrounds know they are supported through our advocacy efforts. We firmly believe that intentional policies, procedures, systems, and infrastructure can break down barriers to equity and inclusion but it is through individual relationships and understanding that an inclusive community is built.

Diverse Community Engagement
The Office of Inclusive Excellence strategically, proactively, and intentionally connects to under-served community populations. Through various events and initiatives, OIE connects the Muncie community to Ball State University.
Inclusive Excellence Competency Building
The Office of Inclusive Excellence seeks to build competencies around issues of equity, diversity, access, and inclusive excellence through relevant and up-to-date training and professional development. We provide a menu of training and development options to ensure the campus is well-aligned with and accountable to uphold the University’s inclusive excellence goals.
Inclusive Excellence Strategy, Resources, and Partnerships
The Office of Inclusive Excellence provides expert consultation to the University community supporting diversity, equity, inclusion, access, belonging, and inclusive excellence. Through partnership with colleges, departments, and university organizations, OIE co-creates strategic plans, initiatives, and events to advance belonging and community. We provide resources to ensure an equitable and welcoming campus for every community member.
Support and Advocacy
The Office of Inclusive Excellence provides tools, resources, and advocacy for students, staff, and faculty to assist in advancing inclusive excellence and in creating a sense of community and belonging. We want all members within the Ball State Community to see themselves reflected in curriculum, policies, and practices to support retention.
