The 2010 documentary Sculpting the Wind (produced by Allison Pareis) is about sculptor and Ball State alumn Alexa King and her creation of the a memorial statue to the Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro.
Sculpting the Wind has won several major awards including the 2010 Videographer Award of Distinction and the 2010 Bronze Telly Award. Nashville recording artist Templeton Thompson wrote a song titled "I Love to Run (A song for Barbaro)" specifically for the documentary. The film premiered during Kentucky Derby week at the Kentucky Derby Museum at Churchill Downs to a crowd of racing media as well as some Kentucky Derby alumni!
