All UCC proposals are submitted through Watermark Curriculum Strategy (formerly SmartCatalog). Within the Curriculum Strategy course form, answer “yes” to the question “Is this an approved or proposed University Core Curriculum course?” to ensure the proposal routes to the UCC Subcommittee. The UCC cover sheet and syllabus should be attached at the bottom of the form.
Ball State is in the process of implementing a new University Core Curriculum (UCC) called the Cardinal Core planned to launch in Fall 2026. An overview is available on the Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs website.

To view the status of proposals reviewed by the University Core Curriculum Subcommittee, please see spreadsheet below. Please note, "approved" refers to approval by the UCC Subcommittee, but additional steps in the governance process include the Provost and public posting period. The Undergraduate Education Committee will approve the overall University Core Curriculum before it is implemented.

Ball State University is committed to "teaching out" this version of the core curriculum through 2030. No new courses may be added to UCC-21, but necessary revisions or drops will be considered. For courses that are part of UCC-21, please submit a "Revised or Drop" Course Form via Watermark Curriculum Strategy, provide a brief explanation of the change in the rationale, and attach the course's primary syllabus. Please answer “yes” to the question “Is this an approved or proposed University Core Curriculum course?” to ensure the proposal routes to the UCC Subcommittee.
