Mark Liebling serves as vice president for people and culture at Ball State University, where he leads the institution’s comprehensive human resources strategy. His portfolio includes talent acquisition, labor and employee relations, compensation and benefits, leadership development, payroll, and HR technology.

Mr. Liebling brings more than two decades of experience across higher education, financial services, technology, and entertainment industries. Prior to joining Ball State in June 2025, he held HR leadership roles at Northwestern Michigan College and served in regional HR positions with Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers, and The Walt Disney Company. His career includes extensive work across Asia, where he led talent and organizational development initiatives for multinational teams in regional roles.

He brings a strategic and values-aligned approach to workforce planning, organizational development, and employee engagement—ensuring that HR programs and practices support the University’s long-term goals and reflect its mission and culture.

Mr. Liebling holds a Master of Science in labor and industrial relations and a Bachelor of Science in multidisciplinary social science from Michigan State University. He is committed to fostering a culture of trust, accountability, and purpose throughout the Ball State community.
