Public Notice of Hearing as required by I.C. 21‐14‐2‐8.

Ball State University will conduct a public hearing concerning its proposed tuition and mandatory fee rate increase at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 in the Forum Room of the LA Pittenger Student Center on the campus of Ball State University.

This hearing will provide the public the opportunity to comment on proposed student tuition and mandatory fee increases for the academic years 2017‐18 and 2018‐19. The subject of the public hearing is the proposal to increase student tuition and mandatory fees by 1.24 percent for 2017‐18 academic year and an additional 1.25 percent for the 2018‐19 academic year. This proposed increase in tuition will be presented to the Board of Trustees at the June meeting.

The proposed total increase in 2017‐18 would be $60 per semester for a full‐time, resident undergraduate student taking twelve to eighteen credit hours. The following year, 2018‐19, the proposed increase would be $61 per semester. The current 2016‐17 resident undergraduate tuition and mandatory fee is $9,654 per year. The proposed tuition and mandatory fee rate would be $9,774 in 2017‐18 and $9,896 in 2018‐19.

The increased student tuition and mandatory fees, in combination with increased state appropriations in 2017‐18 and in 2018‐19 are necessary to fund the university’s operating budget.
