On cue, the nip returning to the December air made one’s thoughts unconsciously move to the magic of the holiday season. Families and community embrace beloved traditions, and the annual E.B. and Bertha C. Ball Center Holiday Open House, part of Minnetrista’s Luminaria Walk, was no exception.
The two-day event drew thousands of visitors. Guests toured the historic Ball family home, enjoyed seasonal music and saw local artisans demonstrating their crafts. A special feature this year was unique holiday decorations from the personal collections of Ricky Allen Flueckiger and Reggie Roser, said Diane Watters, assistant director for the center. The pair, along with Bruce Carter, also embellished the entire first floor.
Floral pieces and arrangements donated by Allisonville Nursery, Buck Creek in Bloom, Dandelions Flowers & Gifts, Flower Bin, G&M Pet and Garden Center, Lazy Daisy Flowers and Normandy Flower Shop also played prominently in the decor, and the second and third floors were decorated by volunteers from the Center for Business and Economic Research, the Office of Community Engagement, and E.B. and Bertha C. Ball Center docents.
Guests were treated to live music, and third-floor offerings included booths featuring carved wooden pieces, handmade beaded ornaments and an antique toy collection.
