Ball State University's undergraduate entrepreneurship program is ranked among the top 25 in the country for the third consecutive year in a joint survey by Entrepreneur magazine and The Princeton Review.
Ranked 21st, Ball State is the only college or university in Indiana in the top 25.
"It's an honor to be among the best entrepreneurship programs in the country," said Michael Goldsby, executive director of Ball State's Entrepreneurship Center and the Stoops distinguished professor of entrepreneurship. "We will build on these rankings as we hire new faculty to join our entrepreneurship team over the next year. At Ball State, we are committed to putting world-class professors into the classroom to deliver students the latest in entrepreneurship and innovation knowledge. This honor validates that we are meeting this important goal."
Ball State's ranking is based an evaluation on key criteria in the areas of academics and requirements, students and faculty, and outside-the-classroom experiences.
The entrepreneurship program, an initiative of Ball State's Miller College of Business, is well-known as the ultimate entrepreneurial experience. It features the New Venture Creation course, a final pass or fail class that requires seniors to put their degrees on the line when their business plans are reviewed by a group of top business leaders just days before graduation.
Since it was founded more than 25 years ago, the university's entrepreneurship program has consistently ranked among the nation's elite, including being listed in the top 10 by U.S. News & World Report since 1999.
The results and analysis appear in the October issue of Entrepreneur, which hit newsstands Sept. 22, and also may be found at www.entrepreneur.com/topcolleges. The publication also features information on overall trends found with social and sustainable entrepreneurship, experiential learning and entrepreneurship as a means of reaching out both internationally and locally.
