Trusted financial coach and best-selling author Jean Chatzky will share the secrets of achieving financial freedom April 6 at Ball State University.
Chatzky will kick off Ball State's Financial Literacy Week, revealing the findings from her latest book, "The Difference: How Anyone Can Prosper in Even the Toughest Times."
She will discuss the traits and habits of those who have moved from the lowest economic strata to the highest. The Neil Palomba Lecture, free and open to the public, begins at 6:30 p.m. in Emens Auditorium. The lecture is underwritten by the Palomba Alumni Recognition Fund within the Ball State University Foundation, and honors Palomba, dean emeritus of the Miller College of Business.
As the financial editor for NBC's "Today," contributing editor for More magazine, a contributor to "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and author of six books, Chatzky is known as one of America's most trusted financial advisers. Known for her common sense advice, she is an expert on everything from debt elimination to mortgage options to retirement planning.
"One of the goals of bringing Jean Chatzky to campus is to allow the community to listen to her ideas, and then apply those concepts to their financial well-being," said Ray Montagno, associate dean of the Miller College of Business. "She will provide insights that every person in the audience will be able to use. Without a doubt, these tips should have a major impact during these challenging economic times."
Ball State's Financial Literacy Week is April 6-9 and will offer a series of workshops and lectures on personal financial topics, including budgeting, saving and investing, managing credit card debt, understanding employee benefit programs, managing financial distress, managing student debt and basic money skills for K-12 students.
