polaroid stories
A story combining a photo-documentary about street kids with an ancient Roman and Greek tale is coming to Ball State.

Performances for "Polaroid Stories" are at 7:30 p.m. April 18-21 in Strother Theatre. The production is part of the Actors Studio Series sponsored by Ball State's Department of Theatre and Dance.

The characters of Ovid's "Metamorphoses" are melded with the lives and stories of young prostitutes, drug dealers and street kids in this drama based on "Raised by Wolves," a photo essay by Jim Goldberg.

Goldberg created the documentary by following the lives of street kids, collecting stories and witnessing some of life's unhappy moments.

Sixteen Ball State students make up the cast of "Polaroid Stories," including Ryan Krause as D, Peter Corey as Orpheus and Jen Waldrip as Eurydice.

"It's exciting to do a show where the characters are in the age range of the student population," said Karen Kessler, director of "Polaroid Stories" and assistant professor of theater. "Most of us know one of these kids — one who didn't quite make it. It's an interesting kind of connect."

Tickets cost $8.50 for the general public and $6.50 for students of all ages. Tickets are available at the University Theatre box office. Call (765) 285-8749 for more information.
