For the third straight year, Ball State University's speech team won the Indiana State Tournament in Indianapolis.
The team recently earned six individual first-place awards during the competition Feb. 17 at Butler University. The team is under the direction of Mary Moore, a communication studies instructor.
Individual honors include:

Kyleen Ammerman: first in impromptu; second in program oral interpretation, after dinner speaking and poetry; and third in informative

Jessy Estell: second in novice informative and fifth in novice prose and duo interpretation

Amanda Hendrix: second in novice persuasion and fourth in novice prose

Nicole Lengerich: first in persuasion, third in rhetorical criticism, fourth in impromptu and poetry, and seventh in dramatic interpretation

Jade Metzger: fourth in novice poetry and rhetorical criticism and fifth in novice impromptu
