Ball State's chapter of the Society of Physics Students (SPS) has been selected as an outstanding chapter for 2005-06.

The selection is based on the depth and breath of SPS activities conducted by Ball State's chapter, including physics research, public science outreach, physics outreach, physics tutoring programs, hosting and representation at physics meetings and providing social interaction for chapter members.

"The award signifies the hard work and commitment by our students to the field of physics," said David Grosnick, physics professor and chapter adviser. "We also believe it's a testament to the high quality of the university's students."

SPS chapters offer students opportunities to develop leadership skills and to explore career-related subjects. Exceptional academic work is recognized each year and students may gain admission into Sigma Pi Sigma, the national physics honor society.
