Indianapolis residents Dennis and Donna Oklak have donated $25,000 to create a new scholarship at Ball State.

The Duke Realty Corporation Freshman Merit Endowment Scholarship will benefit incoming Ball State freshmen planning to pursue business majors.

Dennis Oklak is CEO of Duke Realty Corp., which develops commercial real estate in select markets. Founded in 1972, the corporation is the largest publicly traded, vertically integrated office and industrial real estate company in the United States.

Duke's properties encompass about 113 million square feet of rentable space leased by more than 3,400 tenants. It owns or controls more that 7,700 acres of undeveloped land that can support another 112 million square feet of additional development.

To qualify for the scholarship, eligible students must have an academic index of at least 3.0 and an SAT score of 1,500 on the new scoring system. The scholarship may be renewed for an additional three years if the student continues to meet the criteria.

Availability of this scholarship fund is dependent upon an award selection process established by Ball State and its academic departments. For specifics about this scholarship, contact the Miller College of Business at 765-285-8192.
