Ball State senior and marketing major Ryan Kohnen from Fort Wayne is the recipient of the Robert E. Kennett Memorial Scholarship for spring semester 2007.

The scholarship honors the late Robert E. Kennett, a 27-year employee of Ball State's residence halls dining services. He was assistant manager at Woodworth and Studebaker halls before becoming the dining services purchasing agent in 1986.

A retired U.S. Army veteran of Korea and Vietnam, Kennett was a lifetime member of the Anderson chapter of the Disabled American Veterans. Phyllis Kennett, his widow, is bookkeeper for LaFollette Square.

Students eligible for the scholarship must be full-time undergraduates with at least sophomore standing. Priority is given to marketing majors from central Indiana. Accounting and family and consumer sciences students are also eligible.

Recipients need not demonstrate financial need, but preference is given to students who might not be able to continue education without assistance. The desire for education is the largest determining factor.
