Area businesses, government agencies and nonprofit organizations are invited to attend an information session about Ball State's Business Fellows program.

The innovative program turns "Academic Knowledge into Business Solutions" by placing Ball State faculty and student expertise into action to benefit Indiana organizations and communities across the state.

Funded by Lilly Endowment Inc., the program seeks to engage students in a problem-based project and assists the partner organization in improving services, increasing business, developing new job opportunities, improving quality or improving competitiveness.

The hour-long information session - which also is open to Ball State faculty - begins at 4 p.m. Feb. 1 in the Art and Journalism Building, Studio Room.

Refreshments will be served. To attend, contact Cindy Hershman, special events coordinator and Business Fellows assistant, at (765) 285-2436 or If you cannot attend the session but would like to receive more information, please call Nicole Feldhues, Business Fellows project manager, at (765) 285-2427.

Current Business Fellows projects, which involve various business and community partners in a wide variety of sectors, can be reviewed at

Business Fellows is coordinated by Ball State's Career Center and works in concert with Ball State's Building Better Communities, a university-wide initiative to match the university's expertise and resources to the varied needs of Indiana communities.
