Ball State University has named its Logistics and Supply Chain Management Center after a former chief executive officer of United Parcel Service Inc. The university says the move honors Kent "Oz" Nelson for his career and "lasting impact on the university and the Miller College of Business."

Profile of Paige Rawl, a Ball State freshman, who speaks of how she was bullied in junior high and high school when her classmates discovered she was HIV positive (she was infected at birth). She has taken that experience and turned it into a personal crusade to educate people about the disease and how to treat people who are infected. She has won a number of national honors for her campaign. Story shows her going through her daily routine here on campus.

In the late ’60s, David Letterman hosted a madcap radio program at Ball State and then was the booth announcer and weekend weatherman for a local TV affiliate. He couldn’t get hired out of the market, so in 1975 he moved to Los Angeles, intent on eventually succeeding Carson, his boyhood model of adult male coolness.

Ball State University recently earned kudos for its employee wellness program, which encourages staffers to walk, stop smoking and even take advantage of one-on-one health coaching. The American Heart Association recognized BSU as a Gold Level Fit-Friendly Worksite thanks to the university’s Working Well program.

For the second year in a row, a project located in Haiti and executed by a class of Ball State architecture and landscape architecture students has been recognized in the 2012 Honor Awards Program sponsored by the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS). In addition, four students from the same class earned a third-place award in the 2012 (New) Concrete Unit Design Competition sponsored by the National Concrete Masonry Association (NCMA) and funded through the Indiana Concrete Masonry Association (ICMA).
