Presenter Bio:  Professor J. Mike Metzcar, Retired, CPA, MBA. Professor Metzcar brings together nearly 50 years of professional experience in accounting, taxation, auditing, and financial management. He has been a licensed Certified Public Accountant since 1978 and a Certified Fraud Examiner since 1989. Throughout his career, he has worked in public accounting, government auditing, nonprofit financial management, and school business administration, while maintaining his professional credentials through ongoing education.  Taxation has been a significant part of his career. He prepared approximately 150 individual tax returns each tax season while serving as a tax preparer with H&R Block. That practical experience gives him a clear understanding of the tax issues that affect individuals and retirees. He is currently a volunteer tax preparer for AARP here in Muncie and provides pro bono assistance to a small client using QuickBooks.  Professor Metzcar has also devoted more than 29 years to higher education as an accounting professor at the DeVoe School of Business, Adult Studies program, a division of Indiana Wesleyan University. He has taught accounting, auditing, taxation, fraud examination, and finance to undergraduate and graduate students. He has also taught at Taylor University and served as an instructor for Becker CPA Review, helping prepare future CPA. For the accounting profession.  Today, he will draw on both his professional and teaching experience to explain today’s tax topics in a practical, easy-to-understand way.
