Description: Experience Guatemala through the lens of a new world traveler. Deb and her husband went on an Overseas Adventure Travel week long trip to Guatemala this past winter and learned a lot about the history of the country and the Mayan culture, past and present.  Guatemala is a land of mystery and majesty, home to 1,700-year-old Mayan Temples, active volcanoes and the deepest lake in Central America. From the bustle of Guatemala City to the Mayan mystery of Tikal, Guatemala was an awesome experience that needs to be shared.

Presenter Bio:  Deb Smith is married to Jeff Smith (of African violet fame), has four children, and five grandchildren. Deb taught science at Yorktown Middle School for 28 years.  In her past life she was the coordinator for the academic teams, robotics coach, and facilitator for the Yorktown Virtual Academy.  After retiring two years ago, she kept the Virtual Academy gig but happily left all the rest behind. To keep busy now, she volunteers at A Better Way, a domestic abuse shelter and the Recovery Café Muncie. One of her goals in retirement was to stay close to family and to have adventures traveling around the world.
