Visit the BSU Nature Lab at 11am for Tracks, Trails, & Tales, our weekly summer story time. Gather around the campfire rug to hear a different nature-themed story each week. Story time will be followed by a craft, activity, and/or a guided nature walk. All ages are welcome, but stories and activities will skew towards our younger audience members.

July 23: The Bumblebee Queen, by April Pulley Sayre

The Bumblebee Queen emerges from her winter resting place and begins building a home underground to raise her young and build a colony. We will follow her along her daily tasks and life cycle, and learn the secrets tucked deep inside a bumblebee nest.

After story time, we will compare what we learned about the bumblebees to what we can observe in the honeybee observation hive, to see what makes each species different. We will use air dry clay to create our own "honey pots", which bumblebees use to store nectar in their nest for rainy days.
