All Day Event
Start: October 19, 2024
End: October 19, 2024
Location: Pruis Hall

For the first time ever, the Central Indiana Severe Weather Symposium is coming to a college campus rather than being held in a conference center. And the great news is that the Indiana Chapter of the American Meteorology Society selected Ball State University to host it. On Saturday, October 19, more than 300 attendees from across the Midwest will gather at Pruis Hall, including severe weather professionals, first responders and emergency management personnel, faculty, students, weather spotters and chasers and general community weather enthusiasts.

Sessions will focus on severe weather throughout the years including the 2024 Winchester, IN tornado, and the future of the National Weather Service.  Ball State students will be able to make connections, work at the conference, present their research at a poster session, and attend the sessions. This event is hosted by the Indiana Chapter of the American Meteorological Society (AMS), Ball State's Department of Geography and Meteorology, and the College of Sciences and Humanities. Profits from the event will support the Ball State AMS chapter.
