Enhance your journalism or media major with a sports studies minor. In addition to grounding you in sports writing and specialty reporting, this minor will equip you to understand sports law, finance, communication, and governance and prepare you for a career in sports broadcasting, sports reporting, or sports promotions.

Program Requirements

Required courses for this minor include SPST 200 (Approaches to the Study of Sport), which exposes students to a variety of methodologies and issues as they relate to the study of sport, and SPST 490 (Capstone Seminar), in which each student completes a sports-related project such as a research paper, documentary film, web page, or community service initiative.
