Dr. Lynnea Melham, EdD, MHS, RDN, RYT began her dietetic career as a clinical dietitian in various hospitals where she worked as an in-patient and out-patient dietitian providing patient education, diabetic classes, cardiac rehab classes, and served on the nutrition support team. Eventually, Dr. Melham began working as a consultant dietitian providing care to patients in long-term care facilities and psychiatric hospitals, and finally she worked in several physician offices providing nutrition counseling to individuals addressing cardiac concerns, diabetes mellitus, weight management and eating disorders. The culmination of these experiences resulted in a passion for education. Therefore, Dr. Melham decided to work toward a doctorate degree in Adult Education with cognates in Higher Education and Wellness Management. She spent over 17 years teaching health and nutrition courses, as well as serving in administrative roles as Department Chair and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs with Ivy Tech Community College. She also taught nutrition courses for Purdue Global before beginning with Ball State in the College of Health in 2022. Dr. Melham’s research has focused mostly on dimensional health and wellness. Her favorite part about her career at Ball State is the time spent with students.
